A comedy that follows the intertwining stories of Walter Dishman, a melancholy parole officer struggling with the doldrums of married life, and three eccentric ex-convicts that were recently placed under his supervision: Darla DeMint, a sultry femme fatale on the run from a psychopathic ex-boyfriend that she stole from and whose heart she has broken; Artie Satz, a cranky geriatric criminal whose feeble attempts to resume his life of crime are thwarted when nobody will take him seriously; and Kris Styles, an Ivy League educated African-American doctor, whose criminal conviction for insurance fraud and the break-up of his marriage finds him nearing rock bottom as he’s forced to take the most menial jobs imaginable to satisfy the conditions of his parole. Using the afflictions of modern love as a common thread, the stories build to a poignant climax as each of the characters struggle to free themselves from both literal and figurative bonds.
