Silver Screen Society Foundation Grant for film students
The Silver Screen Society now offers an annual $4,000 grant to a SCAD student filmmaker to promote the practical, real-world process of commercial film production.
Students are asked to develop and pitch a concept for a low budget, crime story set in Savannah. Judges will award $1,000 to the student with the best entry. The winner will be announced at the 2010 Savannah Film Festival, scheduled for Oct. 30-Nov. 6. That student will then have until July 1, 2011, to write the screenplay based on the treatment, with assistance from industry professionals.
The student will present the completed screenplay to the Silver Screen Society Advisory Board. Upon their acceptance, the student will be awarded an additional $1,500. Finally, the screenplay will be produced as a table reading by the student at the 2011 Savannah Film Festival. The student will then receive the final $1,500 at the performance.
Please e-mail the treatment and application to Dean Ayers or deliver them to the Trustees Theater no later than Oct. 18 in a sealed envelope addressed to Silver Screen Society, Attn: Dean Ayers.
