During the post-World War II construction boom, the Weis Theater opened its doors on Valentine's Day, 1946, for a morning screening of The Enchanted Forest. It had one of the largest screens in the South and was among the first theaters in the region to be built with adjustable air conditioning. With renovations completed by SCAD, the 1,100-seat theater reopened in 1988 with a new name and a benefit performance by Tony Bennett. Trustees Theater boasts state-of-the-art sound and projection technology and the ability to host films and live performances. A second SCAD renovation in 2013 combined a modern feel with its original Art Deco accents. The SCAD Box Office is also housed here.

General information: 912.525.5051
Box office: 912.525.5050

The majestic, 1,200-seat, historic Lucas Theatre opening in 1921 to a sold-out viewing of the silent film Camille. Designed by architect C.K. Howell for Arthur M. Lucas, a leading theater entrepreneur of the time, the four-story terra cotta, concrete and steel building was originally designed for film screenings and vaudeville performances. From the outset, he intended the Lucas to be a "preeminent amusement palace." The ornate exterior is matched by an elegant interior with Italian marble stairways, Wedgwood-inspired colors and gold leaf accents, all restored to their original 1920s grandeur during a five-year renovation that was completed in 2000.

Technical highlights include:

  • Digital 4K DCP projection
  • HFR capabilities
  • 35mm platter and reel-to-reel film projector
