Bitter Christmas
Bitter Christmas tells two alternating stories: one starring advertising director Elsa during a long weekend in December 2004, and the other starring Raúl, a screenwriter and director who is writing a script in 2026 that is the story of Elsa, her boyfriend Bonifacio, and her friends Patricia and Natalia. Elsa is Raúl's alter ego in a way, his resorting to autofiction a solution to a long period of creative drought. The film narrates the close relationship between reality and fiction, between inspiration and life, exploring the limits of autofiction and stories within stories. A Sony Pictures Classics release.
