Blue Moon
On the evening of March 31, 1943, legendary lyricist Lorenz Hart (Ethan Hawke) confronts his shattered self-confidence in Sardi’s bar as his former collaborator Richard Rodgers (Andrew Scott) celebrates the opening night of his groundbreaking hit Oklahoma! By the time this night is over, Hart will have confronted both a world that no longer values his talent and the seeming impossibility of love. Director Richard Linklater reunites with longtime collaborator Hawke for this riveting chamber piece that offers a bittersweet elegy for the man behind “My Funny Valentine,” “Isn’t It Romantic?” and so many treasures of the great American songbook. A Sony Pictures Classics release.
A Q&A with production designer Susie Cullen immediately follows the screening.
