Charliebird
Al (Samantha Smart) works as a music therapist at a children’s hospital, taking things day-by-day and trying to make ends meet. Charlie (Gabriela Ochoa Perez) comes into her life as a patient, an ever immovable and unmotivated teenager. As their worlds collide following the revelation of a secret passion project, Al and the pessimistic young Charlie become a source of strength and love for each other as they chart a course through an unknown future.
Preceded by the fiction short The Singers. A Q&A with producer, writer, and actor Samantha Smart and actor Gabe Fazio immediately follows the screening.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR
Libby Ewing is an award-winning director, writer, and actor who grew up in the foothills of Appalachia. Over the years, she has been awarded for her acting work, as well as directing a pilot presentation. Ewing’s feature directorial debut, Charliebird, received the Founders Award for Best Picture at the Tribeca Film Festival.
