A Long Winter

Canada/UK
| 117 min.

1951. High in Colorado’s Rocky Mountains, A Long Winter follows Mike (Fred Hechinger), a young man whose family’s fragile bonds are tested as winter closes in. With his younger brother Tommy (Kit Connor) stationed away in the Korean War, Mike watches as his mother, Louise (Caitríona Balfe), grows increasingly disillusioned with the isolated and suffocating provincial life her husband (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) has created for their family. When Louise disappears into the snow-covered wilderness, Mike is left to face the void she leaves behind — just as the arrival of Jimmy (D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai) quietly reshapes his world. A Mubi release.
