The Baddest Speechwriter of All

Directed by Stephen Curry and Ben Proudfoot
USA, 29 min.

Directed by four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry and two-time Academy Award winner Ben Proudfoot, The Baddest Speechwriter of All is rivetingly told by 95-year-old Clarence B. Jones — the Juilliard-trained clarinetist, music copyright lawyer, and, ultimately, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s trusted lawyer and speechwriter. Personally recruited in the early days of the Civil Rights Movement, the headstrong attorney was forced to choose between the security of his successful life or a path of purpose that would forever alter history — helping Dr. King craft the first seven paragraphs of the iconic “I Have a Dream” speech. A Netflix release.

A Q&A with Ben Jones, son of subject Clarence B. Jones, immediately follows the screening.

One Last Order

Directed by Sam Soko and Lauren DeFilippo
USA/Kenya, 21 min.

At Mac's Drive-Thru in Gainesville, Florida, Sighle Williams is working her final shift after 37 years. She's the voice who knows your order before you say it, the smile that turned fast food into something personal. But this isn't just any farewell. The owner of Mac's announces every dollar earned that day goes straight to Sighle. Cars wrap around the block, their drivers all carrying a Sighle story. One Last Order is the story of a woman who met the world with kindness and made the most routine moment of someone's day feel like it counted. A Netflix release.

A Q&A with director Lauren DeFilippo immediately follows the screening.
